Catherine Vanhullebusch\u2019s abstract work reflects our instinct to quietly reshape the world around us. Perfection may attract the eye, but her art lingers in the spaces where flaws, compromises, and small self-justifications reveal our humanity.<\/p>\n

In the lift lobby, a large-scale piece by Vanhullebusch greets guests. Drawing on the refinement of writing paper and the striking red of Royal Mail, its soft textures and careful folds suggest movement and expression. Created from hand-painted, ultra-thin fine art paper layered over raw cotton canvas, the work introduces subtle motion within restrained shapes. Throughout, the artist explores tension and balance\u2014control alongside freedom, transparency beside opacity. Catherine Vanhullebusch<\/b> is a self-taught abstract painter residing in Brussels. As a perfectionist and over-thinker, she has found a new way to engage with the world through her art. No longer tied to the constraints of logic and control, Catherine embraces the tactile joy of creating with her hands, letting her intuition guide the process. Each piece she creates is a testament to freedom – freedom from the need to overanalyze, freedom from rules, and most importantly, freedom to experiment and fail.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her work reflects the belief that the environment we design has a direct impact on our emotions. Catherine’s minimalist, abstract pieces invite viewers to consider how we shape our world, and how in doing so, we shape ourselves. She trusts the process of creation, knowing that the fruits of dirty hands and countless failed experiments often lead to the most rewarding outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the heart of her practice is the idea that freedom is something we must actively claim. Catherine’s work stands as a reminder that true creative freedom means having the courage to push boundaries, question norms, and step out of the comfort zone – where the best ideas often lie.\u200b
