Looking for toddler-friendly theme parks near London? Thorpe Park in Surrey offers thrilling rides and free entry for kids under two. Kidzania in London lets children explore professions in an indoor city, while Paultons Family Theme Park in Hampshire features ‘Peppa Pig World’. Chessington World of Adventures in Kingston upon Thames and Legoland Windsor Resort in Berkshire provide interactive experiences tailored for younger children. With options like Chessington, just 30 minutes from central London, families can enjoy a day of fun without traveling far.
There is no shortage of theme parks in and around London, offering a wide variety of different experiences for all the family! Londoners are noted for their love of a good time, so it makes sense that they should cherish the opportunity to take their children along.
If you have a younger family then finding the ideal theme park can be a little trickier, as some venues may not specifically cater to toddlers. However, in this blog we’ll take a closer look at some of the best places for you to take your growing brood.
There is plenty of (sometimes frenzied) debate about which theme park is the best of the bunch, as the UK certainly has a few you can choose from. Ultimately, deciding which is the best will come down to what you’re looking for – so it’s impossible to choose the perfect venue overall.
Based in Surrey, Thorpe Park is widely considered to be one of the best theme parks anywhere in the world, let alone the UK. It includes such sights as the first-ever horror film themed theme park ride, ‘Saw’ – which takes you on a terrifying drop of 1000ft.
To make things even better, kids under the age of two get in for free – and its only around 1 and half hours away from London by train – making it ideal for guests at the Montcalm Royal London House.
While it might be stretching the definition to call this one a ‘theme park’ in the traditional sense that is certainly what it is. Kidzania is an indoor city which allows children aged 4-14 to try a range of different professions.
Located in the heart of London, it’s a wonderful way to introduce them to new ideas.
Family-friendly as can be, this Hampshire entry is arguably best known for ‘Peppa Pig World’, which includes nine rides that help bring this character to vivid life. There’s also much more to the venue than just that, however.
Fans of the animal kingdom will be particularly dazzled by joining Little Africa – home to everything from meerkats to millipedes.
Fantastic for both kids and adults alike, Chessington World of Adventures includes over 40 rides throughout the park. It is particularly popular with families in London thanks to its location in Kingston upon Thames. There’re around 40 rides for you to try during your visit.
It’s all located within a vast and sprawling space which will thrill kids of all ages, ideal for a visit during your stay at Montcalm Brewery.
Situated in Berkshire, Legoland Windsor Resort is a true marvel of the theme park scene. The venue offers much more than simply rides for adults, with lots to keep even the tiniest of tots entertained. There’s go-karts made of LEGO, and a range of interactive experiences which will dazzle kids of all ages.
Some of the primary activities here are tailored towards the 3-12 age group, so keep that in mind when you choose which theme park to go to.
There are many theme parks within the direct orbit of London, so you’ll always have plenty of options. Chessington World of Adventures is generally considered to be the main ‘London theme park’, and it also happens to be pretty damn kid-friendly.
This would be a wonderful place for you to spend the day and it only takes about 30 minutes to get there from central London, so be sure to consider it as one of your major options when planning a stay at a Montcalm Collection.
While there’s an array of theme parks for you to choose from, we really do recommend either heading to Hampshire for a day trip (to visit Paultons Family Theme Park) or alternatively, trying Legoland Windsor.
Legoland has been designed with younger kids in mind, and offers lots of activities and attractions which will stimulate developing minds and create lasting memories. There’s a ton of things to do and it’ll be a day you all cherish for many years to come. This is also a particularly easy-to-reach venue, thanks to its close proximity to the city centre. When enjoying the latest London hotels special offers with younger kids, be sure to give it a closer look.
This age group can be a tricky one to cater to at a theme park. Too old to simply be a spectator, and too young to try many of the rides, kids of this age need special care and attention to ensure they, also, have a wonderful day out at your theme park of choice.
Our top pick for this age group would be Kidzania, where they can learn more about the world around them and meet new friends. Thorpe Park is another fantastic option for anyone eager to treat their kids.
Thorpe Park is located approximately 24 miles from London. By car, the trip takes around 45 minutes.
There are many theme parks which would appeal to this age group. Curious about the world and still young enough to be awed by what they see, any of the theme parks on our list would suit them perfectly. The only thing you really need to be aware of is that as with many younger children, they will not be eligible to experience all the attractions due to age restrictions.
However, that shouldn’t stop them from having a truly wonderful time at one of the biggest and best theme parks for this age group (and bigger kids, too).
