The series of curated exhibitions at Montcalm Royal London House highlights Montcalm Collection's ongoing commitment to art, community, and the environment. ‘The Sound of Form’ marks the first in a series of installations at the hotel, with further exhibitions and events, including artist talks and curator walkthroughs, planned throughout the year.
London Art Exhibitions
Montcalm Collection has announced a partnership with Rise Art to present ‘The Sound of Form’, a selection of artworks exploring the profound connection between sight and sound. This exhibition invites viewers on a journey that triggers memories and encourages them to immerse themselves in the emotions evoked by the pieces.
This partnership aims to create authentic experiences that inspire artists and foster engagement, reflection, and discovery, captivating visitors to Montcalm Royal London House. Whether exploring the exhibition in person, browsing the online collection, attending an event, or simply enjoying the artwork while checking into the hotel or meeting for a drink, guests will have the opportunity to experience art in an engaging and dynamic setting.
Samantha van Exter, Montcalm Collection’s Head of Hotels, said: “Montcalm Collection is committed to shaping the future of art, fostering new perspectives, and challenging conventional boundaries by creating innovative and authentic ways for people to engage with art and understand the stories behind the work. In this first exhibition, we tap into the tension between sound and silence, prompting reflection on how withholding sound heightens our sensitivity to what remains unseen and unheard.”
Rise Art is renowned for connecting audiences with emerging and established artists whose work challenges perceptions and broadens perspectives. This partnership reflects Montcalm Collection’s dedication to enriching the guest experience through art and culture, fostering a deeper connection with the community, and supporting the arts.
Scott Phillips, Founder of Rise Art, commented: “We often talk about seeing art, but ‘The Sound of Form’ invites you to experience it on a much deeper level. This exhibition explores the multi-sensory nature of art, demonstrating its power to transport us, ignite memories, and transcend the present moment.
“When Montcalm approached us to collaborate on a series of art projects that combine both physical and digital elements, we immediately recognised the opportunity to provide artists with an authentic platform to share their practice in a unique and engaging environment. The Montcalm Collection of hotels each tells a unique story and showcases distinctive designs, making them an ideal partner given their commitment to supporting the arts.”
‘The Sound of Form’ will be unveiled at Montcalm Royal London House on 13th February, featuring the work of four prominent artists:
• Brendan Neiland: Renowned for his distinctive ‘reflection’ images, Neiland is one of Britain’s leading printmakers and painters. His immersive paintings capture the dynamic energy of bustling cities. His work has been widely exhibited worldwide, including at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate.
• Habib Hajallie: An elected member of The Royal Society of British Artists, Hajallie was named on Forbes’ prestigious 30 Under 30 list in 2023 and won The UK New Artist of the Year Award in 2022. His work celebrates figures from ethnically diverse backgrounds, often overlooked in traditional British portraiture.
• Simon Tatum: An award-winning writer and director, Tatum’s work explores themes of identity and culture, bringing a distinctive narrative perspective to the visual arts.
• Kate McCrickard: A painter, printmaker, and writer based in Paris, McCrickard’s works are held in collections such as The British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The New York Public Library.
Additional contributors to the online collection include Alina Siau, Andrew Crane, Anysia Nefissi, Camille d’Alenco, Kevin Jackson, Kirsty Harris, Kjell Folkvord, Lucy Cade, Olga Shcheblykina, Sam Haynes, Sophie Bocher, Tom Waugh, and Yoni Alter.
