16th June to 20th June 2026

Royal Ascot Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire

Royal Ascot remains a distinguished highlight of the British summer sporting calendar, a week that is equal parts world-class horse racing and the theatre of dressing up. Ladies Day falls on 18 June, followed by the Gold Cup on 19 June. Five days of racing, the King arriving by carriage each afternoon, and a crowd that treats the occasion with all the ceremony it deserves.

The racing itself is the finest flat meeting in the British calendar. The Gold Cup, the Queen Anne Stakes, the Diamond Jubilee, races with long histories and the kind of fields that attract owners and trainers from across the world. But Ascot is also a social occasion in the fullest sense, and for many visitors, particularly those travelling from overseas, the surrounding days in London are as much the point as the track itself.

From London, Ascot is a direct train from London Waterloo, around an hour, and the journey there is one of the great rituals of the week: champagne in hand, everyone assembled in morning dress or their finest, the anticipation building before a single race has been run.

BST Hyde Park Great Oak Stage, Hyde Park, London W2

For three weekends in late June and July, Hyde Park becomes the most exciting outdoor venue in Europe. BST Hyde Park 2026 opens on 27 June with Garth Brooks making his first UK appearance in nearly 30 years — and it only builds from there.

The 2026 lineup is extensive and eclectic including Garth Brooks (27 June), ATEEZ in a UK exclusive (28 June), Maroon 5 (3 July), Mumford & Sons (4 July), Duran Duran (5 July), Pitbull with Kesha (10 July), and Lewis Capaldi across two nights (11–12 July). Between the headline weekends, the Open House programme offers free cinema, street food, and workshops in the park, one of London’s most generous summer gestures.

BST Hyde Park brings the spirit of a summer festival to one of the world’s great parks, without the need to leave the city behind. Each day centres on a headline act, an iconic setting and the ease of returning to a hotel close by once the final encore fades.

Where to Stay for BST Hyde Park

For a concert in Hyde Park, few things feel more appealing than the ease of walking back afterwards. Grand Royale Hyde Park in Bayswater and Park Grand Hyde Park in Paddington both offer that advantage, with Hyde Park close by and no need to navigate the Tube after the final encore. Grand Royale Hyde Park occupies a landmark Victorian building near Lancaster Gate, Bayswater and Queensway stations, while Park Grand Hyde Park is moments from Paddington and the park itself, with kitchenette rooms offering added flexibility for guests who prefer a quieter end to the evening.

29th June to 12th July 2026

The Wimbledon Championships All England Lawn Tennis Club, Church Road, SW19

The 139th Championships begin on 29 June. Two weeks of tennis at the All-England Club — grass courts, strawberries and cream, the hush before a serve on Centre Court that has been observed since 1877. There is nothing else quite like it.

Wimbledon 2026 runs concurrently with BST Hyde Park, which means the last week of June, and the first two weeks of July see London hosting two of its greatest events simultaneously. If you are planning to attend both — and many visitors do — the ideal hotel is one that serves both without compromise.

The best route to Wimbledon from central and west London is the District Line, which runs directly to Wimbledon Station. From the Bayswater and Paddington area, the journey is around 30–35 minutes. From Mayfair, a change at Earl’s Court adds a few minutes but remains completely straightforward. The AELTC also runs its famous Queue for day tickets, for which an early morning start and a well-connected hotel the night before makes all the difference.

Montcalm Mayfair

Bond Street Station is a six-minute walk, with the Central, Jubilee, and Elizabeth lines — and the District line connection to Wimbledon via Earl’s Court. Formula 1 British Grand Prix Race Sunday 5 July · Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire NN12

Silverstone on race weekend is unlike anything else in sport. The sound reaches you before the cars do. The crowd knows its history. And on Sunday afternoon, the British Grand Prix settles into its proper place as one of the great sporting occasions of the year.

The 2026 Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix runs from 3 to 5 July — practice on Friday, qualifying Saturday, race on Sunday afternoon. It overlaps with both the Wimbledon Championships and the BST Hyde Park season, which means London in that week is running at full summer intensity. For many international visitors, the British Grand Prix is the anchor event of a longer London stay.

London sits about 80 miles from Silverstone and makes an excellent base for race weekend. Direct trains run from London Marylebone to Banbury or Milton Keynes, with race-day shuttle connections to the circuit. Journey times are around 60–75 minutes each way. It is entirely manageable as a day trip — and the advantage of a London base is that you have the full city for the evenings and the days around the race.

Montcalm Mayfair

Where to Stay for the British Grand Prix  Five-star · Mayfair W1 · West End location · Ideal for Marylebone connection

Any Montcalm Collection central London hotel works well as a Grand Prix base — the key is proximity to London Marylebone or Euston for onward train connections to Silverstone. Montcalm Mayfair and Park Grand Mayfair both sit conveniently in the West End, within easy reach of Marylebone by Tube or taxi. The Paddington properties also work well, with the Elizabeth line and Paddington’s mainline connections making the journey to Banbury or Milton Keynes straightforward.

Our concierge teams can help with transport planning, restaurant reservations for the evenings around the race, and any other arrangements that turn a Grand Prix weekend into something properly memorable.

Recommended stay: Montcalm Mayfair

West End location — easy access to London Marylebone (Chiltern Railways to Banbury/Milton Keynes)

Lord’s Cricket & The Summer of Women’s Sport

2026 is a landmark year for women’s sport in the UK, and Lord’s is at the heart of it. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup runs from 12 June to 12 July across Lord’s and The Kia Oval — and for cricket fans, there is simply no better ground in the world to watch a match.

Lords in summer is one of London’s great pleasures: the slope, the pavilion, the MCC members in their egg-and-bacon ties, the sharp crack of bat on ball in the afternoon. For international cricket visitors especially, a match at Lord’s is often the centrepiece of the trip — and the women’s game in 2026 is bringing world-class sides and enormous interest to a ground that deserves them.

The Kia Oval in Kennington is the second World Cup venue — well connected from central and west London and offering its own character in contrast to Lord’s formal grandeur.

Where to Stay for Lord’s Cricket

Lord’s sits in St John’s Wood, north-west London. From Montcalm Collection, Montcalm Mayfair — with its Bond Street connection to the Jubilee line for Baker Street, then the Bakerloo line to St John’s Wood — offers the most comfortable combination of luxury and access. Park Grand Mayfair provides a Mayfair base at a more moderate price point. For the Kia Oval, any of the central London properties work well via the Victoria or Northern lines.

Why London – and Why Montcalm Collection for Summer 2026

Few cities bring together world-class sport, culture and occasion quite like London. In summer, the capital comes into its own, with landmark events unfolding across its parks, courts, stadiums, restaurants and historic streets.

Individually, London’s summer events are exceptional. Together, they create something more powerful: a season when the city feels alive with possibility, and every day can become part of the occasion. With hotels across west London, central London and the City, Montcalm Collection places you close to the moments that define the summer, with a considered stay to return to afterwards.

At Montcalm Collection, each property is independently designed and thoughtfully located. Montcalm Mayfair brings five-star elegance within easy reach of Wimbledon and Royal Ascot. Montcalm Royal London House offers a City base with seamless connections across the capital. Grand Royale Hyde Park places BST Hyde Park close to your doorstep, while the Collection’s Paddington hotels offer flexibility for guests moving between events across London.

None of these hotels is simply a bed for the night. Each becomes part of the experience, offering a thoughtful place to pause, reset and continue the season in style.

Our concierge teams know the summer calendar in detail. They can plan transport, secure restaurant bookings, arrange private transfers and help shape a stay that takes in more than one event without any of it feeling rushed. That is what a London summer should feel like.
