About the Project

A signature thread woven throughout Montcalm Royal London House, The Handwritten Letter Project brings the spirit of correspondence into the hotel’s everyday spaces and VIP guest suites. Created by artist Camille Rousseau, the works are drawn from writing contributed by members of the Montcalm team and their creative collaborators, transforming personal words into a shared visual language.

Inspired by the building’s past as a working Royal London post office, the project reimagines letter writing as a contemporary guestbook. Across the hotel, artworks shaped by prose, poetry, and reflections on love, friendship, and adventure invite guests to encounter communication as something intimate, tangible, and enduring.

The visual compositions echo the textures and gestures of handwriting. In an era defined by instant messages, the simple act of putting pen to paper feels quietly radical. The letters themselves draw from the brand’s guiding themes: Voice of the House, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, The Art of Expression, and A Dreamer’s Workshop—ideas that frame the project as both homage and invitation, connecting past traditions of correspondence with new stories yet to be written.
